With the advent of Project 2025, outlining the nefarious plans the far right had, and often voiced prior to the official Trump campaign trail, much of the American public began to fear and strategize the outcome should the 45th President gain power once again.
Then the results were announced. And now we’re here, watching those we care about threatened and our neighbours hauled off by masked men.
Scapegoating the immigrant population
From the start, the administration set their sights on targeting marginalized and minority groups. They propagated false narratives to incite prejudices, violence, and convince their supporters to justify the unjustifiable. The biggest scapegoats and, in MAGA’s mind, tools for pushing more tyrannical edicts and actions are America’s vast immigrant population.
Whether legal or undocumented, Trump saw an opportunity to supercharge the start of his authoritarian regime by attacking, blaming, and rounding up migrants for supposedly invading and threatening America and the American way of life. It would seem the Republican leaders learned much from the not-so distant past on how to turn a democracy into a totalitarian nightmare.
What lies ahead
The escalation of power grabs and rights being stripped away over the last 100 days have left us unwilling citizens in a state of constant mourning, anger, and anxiety. With states beginning to push harder for unconstitutional practices, revoking laws regarding civil rights, and persecuting citizens for daring to resist the growing Christo-Fascism, Americans who refuse to join the MAGA cause are becoming more and more determined.
The President signing Executive Orders like, Protecting American Communities From Criminal Aliens, and Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement To Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Citizens is meant to further militarize our country and scare the citizenry into submission.
In truth, this egregious attempt to make freedom of speech a hallmark of the past and detain or deport, without due process, anyone they accuse of being an alleged threat has only served to ignite a raging spirit of rebellion in the people.
On the horizon we see where these decrees are leading us. The Insurrection Act of 1807 is sure to be invoked, allowing undue military force to reign in dissenters almost completely unchecked. Short of another civil war breaking out, the dictatorship of Donald J. Trump is well on its way.
Unless, by some miracle, the other branches of government join the masses to quell the felon-in-chief, we are soon to be a fully-fledged autocracy.
However, all hope is not lost.
A final message and plea
To the rest of the world, on behalf of my fellow non-MAGA countrymen, I want you to know we are continuing to resist and fight for our people. We will continue to strive for freedom, justice, and equality at home and abroad no matter the threats we are facing, just as our ancestors did long ago.
And I implore all of you, wherever you’re reading this, to never back down against tyranny; to not lose hope in America or when you face dictatorial forces of your own.
In whatever way you can, resist the grasp of evil people vying for total control, even if it’s something as seemingly small as writing a letter.
